Do I need to rig my characters in a special way to work with Speech Graphics?
No, Speech Graphics software can generate animation for any type of facial rig – whether driven by bones, blendshapes, or UI controls. We don’t prescribe any specific set of blendshapes, layout of bones, or control interface. But generally speaking, if your rig is capable of achieving FACS-like movements in the mouth area, then that will be well-suited to Speech Graphics. A rig system like Epic’s MetaHumans is an example of a good set of natural deformations, including the tongue. However even cartoon characters and aliens with non-human morphology can be adapted to work with our muscle system. See Rigging Guidelines for more information.
