Hyperarticulation
Hyperarticulation is a corrective tweak that can be used if the user feels the animation does not match how carefully the speaker is talking. For example if the speaker is speaking rapidly but lazily one may feel that the speech is too slurred or under-articulated. Dialing up the hyperarticulation can improve the clarity of the animation in this case. But generally speaking hyperarticulation should be used only sparingly if at all; small adjustments go a long way. Too much hyperarticulation can result in jittery animation.
The default setting for hyperarticulation is 0.0.
The range for hyperarticulation is [0.0 to 1.0].
Setting Hyperarticulation
Set Hyperarticulation for a Batch (via SGX-GUI)
To adjust hyperarticulation for an entire batch via SGX-GUI, change the setting in the "Hyperarticulation" field. In the example below, hyperarticulation is set to 0.5.
Set Hyperarticulation for a Batch (via the Command Line)
To set the hyperarticulation for an entire batch on the command line, use the markup option -m
; for example: -m "hyper=0.5"
. (Recall that long names of markup attributes can be shortened as long as they are unambiguous.)
Set Hyperarticulation in the Transcript
You can set the hyperarticulation within the transcript using markup tags. This allows you to tune the hyperarticulation on a phrase-by-phrase basis. A markup tag containing the 'hyperarticulation' attribute will apply to everything that follows it up until the next tag containing the 'hyperarticulation' attribute. For example:
(hyper=0.1) Would you like the whole town to see
you in a wrinkled uniform (hyper=0) don't answer
you just listen
Video Examples of Hyperarticulation
Default Hyperarticulation
No markup is needed for the default hyperarticulation setting.
it's always tea time and we've no time to wash the things between whiles
Hyperarticulation = 0.2
By default, there is no hyperarticulation. Here is an example with a small amount of hyperarticulation (0.2).
(hyper=0.2) it's always tea time and we've no time to wash the things
between whiles
Hyperarticulation = 0.5
Here is an example of more hyperarticulated speech (0.5).
(hyper=0.5) it's always tea time and we've no time to wash the things
between whiles
Hyperarticulation = 1.0
Here is an example with maximum hyperarticulation (1.0). At this value, the speech will be exhibit very high effort and every target will be achieved ideally.
(hyper=1.0) it's always tea time and we've no time to wash the things
between whiles
